Race clinic Thursday

It all starts at the beginning, or begins at the start, or maybe ends at the beginning if you are late. Learn about the strategies of starting a sailboat race and more this Thursday August 28 at 6 p.m. at the boat house. We will go over some of the rules and tactics, look over what might need to tune up boats, and if time and weather allow head out for some practice starts. If we don't get on the water time we will schedule another clinic for that.

The weather will be a little cooler than the early part of the week so things should be fairly comfortable.

Our regatta, coming up on September 13th and 14th is the perfect event to get introduced to racing since it is a fairly small, and more informal event than races elsewhere. Racing is extremely effective at improving your sailing skills and is a great way to meet more sailing friends. The Saturday evening dinner party at the Nutfarm is always a blast.

We can also use a couple of volunteers for the regatta. Saturday morning registration and a scoring data input person are just a couple of the positions to fill.

Sailing prime time

After Labor Day the traffic on the water drops off and the water is still warm. Make your plans to get out on the water September to October.

In October we will probably have weekend campout at Mitchell Creek followed by the Fall work party to (sadly) put things away for winter.
