LCSA Board Meeting
The LCSA Board will meet Wednesday 5/22 at 5:30 at the Nutfarm. All members who would like to help us plan things for the sailing association are encouraged to attend. Burgers will be provided bring a side and beverage.
One topic will be to decide if we will have the regatta this year.
The future of LCSA needs instructors
Providing free sailing classes to the public is the in kind payment to the City for the space we occupy on the waterfront. This year when class registration opened all 12 spots plus 12 waitlist spots for the level one class filled in 20 seconds. We could easily fill more classes but currently only have one active instructor and I am older than dirt.
If you like sailing and like meeting people please consider becoming an instructor. In the past our insurance required instructors to be certified by US Sailing but we will discuss that at our board meeting as our new insurance may not mandate certification.
Classes kick off this Monday and will continue into July with the level 2 course. Please do not use the Hunter 140s on Monday evenings.
Boat Status
Webmaster Josh has enabled hourly reservations for boats so someone only wanting to sail for a couple of hours is not taking a boat offline for the whole day.
The Ericson 25 and Merit 25 are in the water. The Merit does not have a jib on it until we sew the sail back together. We will be launching the Catalina 22 as the third in water boat soon.
All other boats are available except the Hunter 216 which will need a new jib.
Boats with roller furling jibs - there cannot be even a scrap of sail exposed when furled or the wind will defurl it and shred it.
Extreme caution must be used tying the in water boats to make sure they do not hit each other or the steel pilings.
